Offline Files and the Sync Center are usually enabled by default even though you don’t use them. Turn them off to free up your system resources and speed up boot up times.
Is ‘Offline Files’ Enabled?
Offline Files works together with the Sync Center. When turned on, you will see the Sync Center icon in the taskbar and a process running called mobsync.exe.
Open the Sync Center GUI
First, you need to open the Sync Center GUI from the Control Panel. Once there, click on Manage offline files.
Permanently disable Offline files
In the Offline Files GUI, click the Disable offline files button. A warning will be displayed: “Offline Files is disabled but active. Restart this computer to deactivate Offline Files.”
Press OK and then you are asked to restart your computer. Click Yes. After the reboot, both Offline Files and the Sync Center will be disabled.
